Unspottable Review - Sock Your Friends in The Face!

Watch our review video here!

If you have always wanted to punch your friends in the face, but did not want to permanently damage your relationship, then we might just have the game for you. Unspottable took an incredibly simple concept and injected fun into its veins. The game plops you into a top down play area with a couple of friends and loads of AI robots. Your goal is simple: punch your friends to get points. However this is complicated slightly by the fact that the robots and your friends look exactly the same!

The fact that everyone looks the same leads to an intense game of hide and seek as each of you attempts to discover who you are without revealing yourselves! As you look like everyone else, the only way to know your character from the others is to move your joystick, whilst looking for the character following those motions. AAAAnd the only way to identify your friends is by spotting inconsistent movements among the robots!

Unspottable has 12 different areas or maps to choose from, each unique in its own way. Some maps will have you working hard to blend into the crowd by performing dance choreography or punching at the same time as everyone else. While others will encourage you to perform hidden punches behind props in a theatre and yet others will present you with side quests such as greeting the cool kids, eating sushi, or grocery shopping. Aside from each map's unique aspect, the gameplay stays mostly the same with only the option to change how many points you play to.

Worthy of mention is the game's vibrant cartoon art style. Each round is filled with a colorful landscape and beautifully drawn character designs. There are a variety of characters to choose from, which mostly comes into play as you comically collect other players' heads as trophies. The music and sound effects are also humorous and enjoyable. They suit the mood incredibly well and will help your friends take their embarrassing defeat with a lighter mood.

In game distractions often caused us to lose focus, meaning we had to find ourselves all over again. This of course is all part of the charm, as you hurry to find yourself before you get hit by a bomb, or smashed by a mechanical arm. But you don't want to do anything drastic and give yourself away! Unspottable is great for parties of 2 or more and will bring laughs to everyone. On top of that watching others play is also fun as you try to spot what they cannot.

We loved playing this game together and sharing it with our friends. It is great for a short play session as each map only takes a couple of minutes, and playing through all of them will take around 45 minutes. It is a blast for gatherings, and a wonderful game to pass some time with your loved ones. We have found ourselves playing over and over again. Unspottable is definitely worth the cost if you enjoy playing party games with friends.

The game's controls are very simple and easy to learn with only basic functions needed to enjoy playing; you can walk, run, punch and cause a distraction. It supports 2-4 players locally and is available on Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox and PC.
